I was just telling a friend today that I think maybe one of the reasons this style has lost something of its efficacy is because maybe they give out too many black belts and then I see a little kid getting one just like taekwondo with all the zillions of little black belt kids ha ha ha

Great video. I do train muay thai and specifically do sparring and pad work to drill some SD leaning moves. Just a couple things. Teeps are surprisingly effective. I really like the long guard (check out Jeff Chan's adaptation of it, it's very muay thai like) because you start off in a "I don't want any trouble pose", you can quickly determine reach, you can grab his arm or wrists or do some hand traps or parrys, and really sets you up well for a fight ending straight or elbow combo, The only thing I don't like about muay thai is a very static stance sucks vs multiple opponents (I mean you're screwed either way right?), you still need to know some wrestling and or BJJ and you need to adapt your stance (bladed more like a boxer is better), drills and guard for the streets.

I became facebook friend with Mr. Taboada. I wish I could train with him. Don't know any forms of any Martial Arts. We spoke on the phone and the man is very friendly and very humble.

In my Kung Fu school, my Sifu and his Sifu teach Wing Tsun with the increment of FMA, because we all see how brilliant effective is FMA (what we call Escrima, or Kali). If you guys have never tried to incorporate wing tsun and FMA in a unique training system, trust me... This is really really good! Our Wing Tsun system is also not that "traditional" (my Sigung trained till last level 3 different Wing Tsun systems, and also Sanda, Northern Shaolin and was himself a Sanda Athlete. My Sifu trained the same stuff and incorporated also his experience in working as Guard and being graduated in Physical Education). What I want to say is that Tradition does NOT have to mean it can't be evolved, incorporated with other experiences and useless things can easily be changed or thrown away.

Some of the most important info for people to have for self defense these days. Everyone is worshipping boxers, kickboxers, muay Thai fighters, and Brazilian jiu jitsu folks. But none of them are complete martial arts, and they all have a low success rate in self defense (i generally assume the person defending themselves is weaker, or less aggressive or less experienced, because teaching self defense against people you can beat anyways is nonsense)
